I've yet to come across a game that will work as iso,and don't as a folder, and vice versa.iso's are just easier to work with.Ībout hdd's basically anything that will psysically fit into ps3 will work.even 2tb drives will work (full 2TB) as internal.what to buy depends on what you already have and how much space do you need.speed of and drive doesn't really matter for gaming,as ps3 is old tech and doesn't take full advantage of modern drives.but,if you have the money you can buy hybrid hdd (1tb) and biggest external 2,5" you can afford, that way you will have best of both worlds as hybrid hdd's seem to work rather nicely on ps3.Ĭlick to expand. But isn't mmCM reliable and what do you mean with using Rudi Rastelli's PS3 ISO TOOLS V2.2 with patched makeps3iso? I'm yet to use both (as well as IRISMAN which I didn't even install) but when I open the latter that makeps3iso setting I saw on images doesn't even show up. On ps3 use irisman,on PC use Rudi Rastelli's PS3 ISO TOOLS V2.2 with patched makeps3iso,all other methods aren't reliable.you don't have to do anything to the iso,you don't have to patch them, you can even exclude update folder.on how to convert pkg's to iso wait the answer from someone with experience with that,as i collect only disc based games.if your ps3 is connected to the net with iso's games will automatically download all the updates. If they are SATA III and 7200 RPM will they work and if so, will the speed be noticeable? Should I use mmCM to create them from PS3 backups on folder game (JB) format or should I create them using the PS3 Tools Collection's context menu item or PS3 ISO Tools (I think I should select the 4.76 FW on the latter) and afterwards send them to the external HDD's PS3ISO folder? If I use the second or the last will it take less time and later won't even work when trying to load the games on mmCM? I know this might be a stupid question but should I also convert the legit PSN games to ISO and if so, will they come along with the installed DLC and may I delete the RIF files (both the games' as well as the DLC's) afterwards or will they need them to work? Also, are PS3 ISOs more compatible than PS3 backups on folder game (JB) format when on mmCM like I've read and is there a mmCM PS3 (and games from other consoles) backups compatibility list?ĮDIT: Which internal and external HDDs work on the PS3 just to make sure I don't buy incompatible ones? According to what I've read, the internal HDDs must be up to 1.5 TB (and be 2.5") to be recognized and the external ones up to 2 TB.
